Resume and Cover Letter
Dear Reader,
I am a young geospatial professional with a passion for GIS, mapping, and cartography. I am currently near the completion of my Applied Bachelor of GIS practicum at SAIT while working for a non-profit as a Social Geographer. I will complete my practicum January 2023.
Before starting the BGIS program at SAIT, I obtained a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Calgary; during this degree, I gained my first experience with GIS (ArcMap). This degree was advantageous, allowing me to take a broad swath of multidisciplinary courses, gaining exposure to critical thinking, project planning, and collaborative work.
I have gained experience at SAIT with ArcGIS Pro, Online, and Enterprise; Python scripting, database fundamentals, image analysis, FME Workbench, and project planning and management. I served as project manager for two large group projects within the BGIS program, planning workflows, developing risk and project plans, and expanding my soft skills, such as time management, problem-solving, and group communication. My capstone project involved working with large LiDAR datasets and migrating 3D scenes from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online to construct a web mapping application allowing me to become familiar with managing large datasets in many formats.
Thank you for your attention, and please consult my online portfolio (justinGIS.com) for examples of written reports, presentations, map layouts, and ESRI ArcGIS Online web applications.
Sincerely,
Justin Foltinek
